PARKER KAY at JR. PROJECTS:
September 3 - October 2, 2015
By effectively turning the white cube inside out Parker Kay’s solo exhibition attempts to blur the lines between the structures that support artwork and the artwork itself. The gallery becomes a stage and the objects within that stage become props, all which allude to a greater narrative at work. The fourth wall, an invisible divide between the stage and the audience becomes actualized through the window display of the gallery and Kay’s etchings onto the threshold between exhibition space and public space. This singular perspective flattens the objects in the gallery and etchings on the glass into a flat plane - an acknowledgement of how it will live on in documentation through digital images.
